This is an exciting opportunity to join the HCP 0-19 service in Walsall as a Health Visitor.

The service has recently been transferred into the Community Division as part of Walsall’s continued progress towards integrated working with our local partners.

It is an opportunity to work within a Trust which has advanced levels of integrated working and a commitment to maintaining excellence within our Community Teams.

The Division has recently undertaken a review of the service and has a plan to ensure that the needs of the families of Walsall continue to be met as well as ensuring that the Service can evolve by developing and supporting all of its staff to meet these needs.

Therefore, we would welcome applications from new or experienced Health Visitors to work within one of our four locality teams and to be part of the future development of the service.

To provide clinical leadership support and professional direction to the children, young people and families public health team ensuring that high standards and safe levels of intervention which are evidenced base are delivered within a corporate caseload.

To work autonomously within a multi‑agency arena to enable children & Young People (predominantly pre‑school age) to reach their full potential (physically emotionally and socially) through education and healthy lifestyles.

PLEASE NOTE, WE MAY CLOSE THIS VACANCY EARLY IF WE RECEIVE HIGH NUMBERS OF APPLICATIONS. The job holder is responsible for developing, leading, planning and delivering a range of services for children and their families within a corporate caseload.

Provide a public health based service that contributes to improving the health of children and their families in Walsall through partnership working.

During the absence of the cluster lead or other teams cluster leaders will promote team working at all times and contribute to the delivery of services within the team Participate in the continued development of the children, young people and family’s public health service, to include meetings and close liaison with cluster lead and to work in partnership with other health care professionals within the Trust and other agencies.

Care may be delivered within a variety of settings to include client’s home, GP practice clinic, virtually or other settings.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community.

Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof.

The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit.

A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space Assess, plan, delegate, maintain and review caseloads for each team member, identifying needs and skill mix to ensure delivery of service.

Analyse and respond to situations at team and one to one level taking account of changing priorities at team and 1-1 level Represent the service on a range of multi professional forum as requested and agreed with the cluster lead.

Organise and chair weekly team meetings to cascade information and plan delivery of the team workload in the absence of the clinical lead.

Constructively participate in nursing, clinical and managerial meetings as required.

Monitor and report to the clinical lead regarding client and staff safety, accidents and reportable incidents as necessary in line with risk management local and national policies.
