To support staff to offer gym sessions to adult inpatients at Dorothy Pattison's Mental Health Hospital
This is a voluntary role which is unpaid.
Black Country Healthcare is a major provider of NHS mental health services for more than a million people across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton:
- Adult and older adult mental health services
- Mental health services for children and young people
- Community healthcare for children, young people and families in Dudley

Main duties of the jobExamples of how you can help us:
We are looking for volunteers with a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification that is recognised by CIMPSA.
Therefore, we request male only applicants.
Shadowing and training will be provided with regards to risks, and alarms will be provided.
Volunteers could do one session or multiple sessions per week depending on their availability.
We would like volunteers who are looking to volunteer for at least 6 months, due to recruitment processes and ensuring consistency for our patients.
Must be able to travel to Dorothy Pattison's Hospital (travel expenses will be reimbursed).

We are looking for volunteers who have these qualities:
- Hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification that is recognised by CIMPSA.
- Reliability:
Commitment to a regular volunteer schedule to provide consistent support. - Live in the Black Country or Birmingham area, within a reasonable travel distance to site.
- Volunteers must be over 18.
Friendly and welcoming good communication skills, able to speak with clients and staff and build rapport.
- Able to follow confidentiality policy and professional boundaries to keep themselves and patients safe.
Enthusiasm and desire to help improve experiences of patients and improve wellbeing.
Computer skills able to use email, databases and other software.
Person Specification- Can display trust values.
- Live within the Black Country or Birmingham areas, within a reasonable travel distance to our sites.
- Over 18 years old.
- Interest in mental health services and supporting them.
- Male applicants only, due to nature of role being based on male inpatient ward.
- Passion for mental health services.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
