Maintenance Operative

As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for ensuring the building and grounds are well maintained, carrying out a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checking services, and applying basic fixes to equipment and systems to keep facilities fully functional.

Your focus as a Maintenance Operative will be to ensure the building and grounds are well maintained, carrying out routine maintenance tasks, checking services, applying basic fixes to equipment and systems, and ensuring facilities remain fully functional. Other responsibilities include carrying out all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, supporting new residents to arrange their rooms, ensuring routine redecorations are undertaken, advising on the supply and quality of items used, and providing out‑of‑hours emergency service.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building work both inside and outside the Home.
• Supporting new residents to arrange their rooms as they wish.
• Ensuring routine redecorations are undertaken to maintain standards in the Home.
• Advising on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks and ensuring timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
• Providing out‑of‑hours emergency service and participating in the on‑call rota.

To be successful in your application, you will live our values of caring, supportive, honest, respectful, and accountable in all that you do. Our ideal candidate must:

• Have a minimum of one year of experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
• Hold a full driving licence.
• Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly moving and handling techniques, fire safety, and COSHH assessments.
• Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities on short notice.
