HSE Advisor
The Role:
As an HSE Advisor, you will support Barhale Construction Services Ltd (BCS) to meet the requirements of the Health, Safety & Environmental management systems. You will assist the site teams and managers through your inspections by recognising hazards and seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining, and improving health, safety, environmental and quality standards. You will champion HSE initiatives in the workplace whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the provision of health & well-being within the business, under the direction of the business unit Director and Head of HSEQ.
- Lead on incident investigations to identify learning and prevent recurrence.
- Complete regular HSE inspections to maintain the expected HSE standards within Barhale.
- Provide accurate and timely HSE advice to BCS employees and contractors.
- Assist with the management of subcontractors via RAMS reviews and inductions.
- Support successful onboarding by delivering HSE inductions.
- Produce monthly HSE statistics for senior management.
- Champion business-wide HSE initiatives at a local level.
- Provide technical advice and support in the development of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Chair monthly HSEQ consultation meeting and lead on the close-out of actions.
- Represent BCS at Barhale's weekly HSEQ meeting Barhale.
- Represent BCS at internal and external audits, maintaining accreditation to ISO
14001, ISO
45001 and ISO
9001. - Support with the delivery of HSE-related information, instruction and training.
- Be an ambassador for the integrated management system and ensure it is embedded at all levels within the business.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Ensure business-wide HSE communications are cascaded appropriately.
- Promote the value of occupational health at a local level.
- Keep local and corporate management informed on the status.
- Monitoring, verifying & reporting HSEQ statistics for regions every month as directed.
- Log all significant PI's, Minor Injuries, RIDDORS onto Envoy, completing the investigation (for significant PIs, RIDDORS, LTi's) and producing a safety alert within 4 working days.
- Produce monthly HSEQ report for HSEQ Manager and Regional Lead, incorporating locally agreed information and content.
- Monitor Regional HSEQ trends, highlighting areas for improvement and supporting Regional Leads on improvement deliverables.

The successful candidate is likely to meet all the following criteria:
Essential- NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent
- ISEP foundation certificate in environmental management or equivalent
- Familiarity with PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, L117, Work at Height Regulations
- Ability to lead by example and promote safe working practices
- Experience working in a fast-paced, heavy industry, manufacturing and/or hire and sales environment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience of training delivery (Level 3 AET / PTTLS)
- Trained internal auditor to ISO
9001/ISO
45001/ISO
14001 - Knowledge of machinery safety (Supply of Machinery Regs, EC Machinery Directive)
- Experience with in the construction industry, including heavy civils and water sector
