Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Mechanical Engineer
Do you want your engineering skills to power thrills, smiles, and unforgettable experiences? We're looking for a skilled and passionate Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team at one of the UK's leading theme parks.
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you'll play a vital role in keeping our rides and attractions operating safely, smoothly, and at peak performance. From daily ride inspections to major annual overhauls, your work will directly impact the safety and enjoyment of thousands of guests every day.
The RoleAs a Mechanical Engineer, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, testing, and rehabilitation of a wide range of rides and attractions from multiple OEM manufacturers. Working from our computer‑based maintenance management system, you'll ensure all mechanical systems meet strict safety, operational, and performance standards.
What you will be doing:Routine Maintenance & Inspections
- Carry out daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections in line with OEM schedules
- Inspect ride tracks, vehicles, wheels, axles, suspension systems, motors, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and sensors
- Test safety systems including restraints, barriers, interlocks, and emergency stops
- Ensure control systems and automated functions are fully operational and ride‑ready
- Lead comprehensive inspections and strip‑downs of ride systems
- Clean, lubricate, recondition, and replace critical components as required
- Perform full‑load and real‑world performance testing
- Coordinate with OEMs and specialist contractors on large‑scale repairs and upgrades
- Ensure all systems meet OEM standards, local regulations, and industry best practice
- Carry out and document risk assessments
- Maintain accurate safety records and support audits and certifications
- Participate in emergency drills and ensure evacuation systems function correctly
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, sensor, and control system faults
- Monitor ride performance data to identify potential issues before failures occur
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, safety teams, and park operations
- Mentor apprentice engineers and share technical knowledge
- Support new ride installations, upgrades, and special engineering projects
