Smile Education are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants for SEN schools across Walsall. This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to transition from children’s residential care into a school-based role, offering more sociable hours and a better work-life balance.

The Role:

Supporting students with Special Educational Needs within Primary and Secondary schools
Working on a 1:1 and small group basis within the classroom
Assisting pupils with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
Supporting students’ academic progress, emotional regulation, and independence
Working closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to create a positive learning environment

This Role Is Perfect For Candidates Who:
Have experience working in children’s residential care or similar settings
Are confident managing challenging behaviour
Are passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential
Want to transition into education while maintaining a healthy work-life balance
Are looking for more structured, sociable working hours (typically school hours, term time)
Are eager to develop their knowledge and build a long-term career in education

Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people (residential care experience highly desirable)
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care, Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent – desirable)
Strong communication skills, patience, and resilience
A proactive and positive attitude
