Overview

Severe Learning Disabilities Specialist - B90. Aspire People is seeking an experienced and compassionate Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) Specialist to support a specialist educational setting in the B90 area. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to improving outcomes for pupils with complex needs and creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

You will work closely with pupils who have severe learning disabilities, delivering tailored support that meets their individual needs. This includes assisting with communication development, sensory-based learning, behaviour regulation, and personal care where required. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning in a meaningful and engaging way.

• Experience working with pupils with severe learning disabilities
• Strong understanding of SEND strategies and communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory approaches)
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent
• Confident behaviour management skills
• A positive, resilient, and compassionate approach
• Relevant qualifications or training in SEND are highly desirable
