Overview

Those consultants who have specialist training in another specialty and have an interest in Acute medicine will also be considered. We will be keen to hear from people who have a specialist interest in ultrasound guided procedures, specialty experience in ITU or Respiratory medicine as we are looking at developing an enhanced care unit in AMU in the near future. For those wishing to develop their specialty interest in addition to Acute medicine we would be willing to support your career aspirations.

The working week for a full-time Consultant is comprised of 10 Programmed Activities which includes Acute on call weekends. Typically, a consultant will spend 7.5 PAs on Direct Clinical Care (this includes 0.5 PA for being clinical and educational supervisor and prospective cover). The Acute medical team work on a rotational basis covering Ward 29
-Short stay, AMU and Ambulatory care.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Commitment to our Trust values
  • Full MRCP
  • Basic Medical Degree
  • Full MRCP or equivalent
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), European Community Rights or CESR
  • Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Acute Care Medicine (or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview)
  • Adult Life Support (ALS) within last 3 years
