Software Release Engineer

Join a dedicated team of expert software engineering professionals at Siemens Healthineers POC as a Software Release Engineer. Aid in the continuous and automated building, testing, and releasing of high-quality products to customers. This role reports to the Senior Software Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, V&V teams, and other stakeholders to define release timelines, goals, and criteria, ensuring readiness for release.
  • Utilize automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and best practices to streamline configuration management, software build, package, release and deployment processes.
  • Enhances the speed and efficiency of product releases while ensuring quality.
  • Modernize and oversee the Software Automation Lab to establish and maintain highly capable and reliable testing environments, fostering innovation in new verification and validation technologies.
  • Work alongside other skilled engineers to incorporate robotic technology-assisted medical device software verification and validation.
  • Develop automated Acceptance tests to ensure software functions meet requirements and verify that critical builds are ready for additional verification stages.
  • Automate the generation of release notes, post-release reports, and maintain comprehensive release documentation for future reference.
  • Optimize build, test and Dev Ops infrastructure servers, services and other resources in terms of scalability, efficiency, performance, and cost; identify and address bottlenecks.
  • Manage Azure Dev Ops server, Git, and TFVC-based source control systems.
  • Applies manual and automated techniques to ensure adherence to regulated medical device software development processes. Reports non-conformances to management.
Requirements
  • A 4-year degree in Computer Science or related fields, with one to two years of software engineering experience being advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in managing and automating build, release, and deployment pipelines.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Power Shell, or similar.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring, logging, and debugging tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of source code management, compilers, build configuration languages, automated build tools, package managers, and installers is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across various teams.
Plus
  • Software Dev Ops and Release Engineer experience in the Medical Device Software Development field.
  • Understanding Agile methodology and experience with working on an Agile team.
  • Experienced with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery technologies such as Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops.
  • Experienced with virtual machine, container and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Industrial experience with Cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS.
