Sales Executive - SG08DE

This role focuses on growing the group benefits business with independent producers and brokers within the 2 to 99 employee segment.

Responsibilities
  • Build and execute a Territory Sales Plan to grow the customer base and achieve profit targets for The Hartford’s group life, group short-term disability, group long-term disability, and supplemental health lines of business.
  • Conduct high volumes of quality sales calls with targeted production partners over the phone.
  • Establish a sales call continuum, generating topics from prior calls and executing with a set agenda to achieve specific outcomes.
  • Create demand and excitement for The Hartford products and services offered to small businesses.
  • Educate partner producers and brokers on The Hartford group benefits small business products and services.
  • Maintain a disciplined operating routine and sales process to ensure consistent execution of effective sales practices.
  • Develop an understanding of the assigned territory, identify targeted producers, and leverage relationships to attain financial goals.
  • Build relationships over the telephone and understand the group benefits market landscape to create innovative ways to leverage The Hartford value proposition.
  • Align Hartford strategies with supporting initiatives, tools, and resources to grow market share and in-force premium in the assigned territory.
  • Develop and maintain an effective pipeline of business opportunities to quote.
  • Establish an adequate day-to-day flow of cases to meet company and agency growth objectives.
  • Effectively manage multiple initiatives, projects, and tasks to create desired outcomes in the territory.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in the insurance industry; group benefits, commercial, or agency experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s preferred).
  • Exceptional sales and negotiation skills, preferably in a business-to-business capacity.
  • Ability to conduct high volumes of virtual sales calls.
  • Account management / inside sales experience or demonstrated telephonic performance.
  • Proven track record of developing strong business relationships.
  • Ability to influence decision-making with key partners and closing skills.
  • Advanced insurance market and product knowledge helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Commitment to personal development (e.g., industry associations, designations such as CIC, CPCU, LUTCF, GBDS, ARM; or college programs).
  • Flexibility, innovation, and willingness to test new approaches; ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; highly motivated with strong organizational capabilities.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Accident, Health & Life Insurance License (within first six months in role).
  • Must reside within the San Francisco territory/market to be considered.
  • Will consider newly graduated professionals with drive for sales.
Compensation and Work Arrangement

This role is eligible for a competitive base salary of $60,000 plus an incentive compensation plan. Motivated performers can earn up to $90K–$140K annually, with guaranteed first-year earnings to help you hit the ground running.

Hybrid work arrangement with an expectation to work 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) in one of our office locations. This enables flexibility while ensuring collaboration with peers and leaders in the office to develop skills, build relationships, and grow your career with The Hartford.

As a condition of employment, you must obtain and maintain the Accident, Health & Life license within the first six months in the role.
