Job Purpose

As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: create heartfelt moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; solve or elevate patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities: accurately put away medication deliveries; complete cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
  • Embrace a growth mindset: actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge needed to better assist patients.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, volunteer to travel to stores in the market as required by the business.
  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
  • Support immunizations (where permissible): obtain Technician Immunizer status; educate patients about vaccines; monitor adverse reactions; review and collect patient information; manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • If no minimum age requirement, must be at least 16 years old.
  • If no minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
  • Regular, predictable attendance (including nights and weekends).
  • Complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and focus: concentrate on a task; pivot quickly; confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Customer service and team orientation: look for ways to help people; respond appropriately to patients’ reactions.
  • Communication skills: verbal and written; active listening; ask appropriate questions.
  • Mathematical reasoning: solve problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle counts.
  • Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action.
  • Physical demands: mobile; lift, scan, bag items; reach overhead; move fingers repetitively; lift up to 20 lbs; perform tasks with precision.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1‑3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.
