We are looking for a passionate electrical instructor to support the next generation of electricians. Due to growing student numbers, our team needs to expand. This role involves developing, preparing, and delivering high‑quality education and training programmes, as well as providing professional support to help the College meet its objectives.
The role is to teach and assess specialist units in Electrical Installation qualifications, maintaining discipline, safe working practices, communication skills and working efficiently and effectively. You will have full responsibility for allocated learners to ensure retention, progression and achievement.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and delivering course material to a range of programmes as directed by your line manager.
- Carrying out lecturing and associated functions including classroom teaching, tutorial work, assessment, residential courses, open and distance learning cases and student placements as required.
- Carrying out tutorial duties and assisting with counselling services for students on academic, non‑academic and welfare matters.
- Undertaking liaison activities with parents/guardians, schools and employers, including participation in parent evenings and employer visits.
- Working as a member of one or more course teams and taking responsibility for administration and management of specified courses or subject areas.
- Participating in curriculum development activities.
- Undertaking staff appraisal and classroom observations in accordance with College policy.
- Participating in examination arrangements, including writing, marking and invigilation duties.
Requirements and attributes:
- Excellent knowledge and skills in Electrical Installation suitable for teaching up to and including Level 3.
- Enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a timely and effective manner.
- Excellent administration, IT and organisational skills.
- Positive and sympathetic response to learners, providing appropriate support.
- Proven track record of successful teaching or engagement with young people.
- Evidence of successful course leadership.
