Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
GENERAL DUTIES
Responsible for mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of all sewage treatment equipment and motor vehicles, including pumps, drives, reducers, motors and various types of other equipment related to sewage treatment and pumping stations. Performs general and technical vehicle maintenance and repairs. Performs regular periodic inspection and general operation of pumping stations and related facilities of the Sewer Division, keeps all equipment in good working order and makes all necessary repairs.
Duties include assisting other personnel with the more complex maintenance tasks. Performs building and grounds maintenance as assigned.
Conducts parts inventory control. Prepares and maintains records. Performs the work of lower classifications as required. Works closely with the Electrical Technician and Maintenance/Repair Technician II. Performs on-call work as required. Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good knowledge of mechanical, H&V and pumping equipment and vehicle maintenance. Good ability to utilize machine shop tools and power equipment. Knowledge of welding techniques. Good ability to read and follow complex written and oral instruction. Good ability to maintain accurate records. Good ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates and subordinates.
QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from high school or trade school and one (1) year of related college level education or specialized maintenance training and two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and motorized equipment. One (1) additional year of experience may be substituted for one (1) year of education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSPossession of a valid state of Connecticut Class B Motor Vehicle Operator's License within six (6) months of employment.
