Homemaker/Companion Live In – Right at Home Wallingford, CT

Right at Home, In-Home Care office in Wallingford, CT is seeking Live‑In Caregivers who possess a reliable car, drivers license, and auto insurance to join a dynamic care team providing a professional, comfortable, and supportive experience to our clients while they remain in their homes.

Live‑In Caregivers will work in the following locations:
Wallingford, Hamden, Middletown, Cromwell, Southington, Plainville, Cheshire, Waterbury, Naugatuck, Middlebury, Watertown, Woodbury, Southbury, Terryville, Plymouth, and Thomaston.

Caregiver Requirements (Must)
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a reliable car and a valid driver's license with current auto insurance.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass a full employment background check.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to navigate with little assistance from others.
Nice‑to‑Haves
  • CNA or HHA certification.
  • COVID vaccination and booster, PPD, Flu, Hepatitis B, and MMR.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
Essential Caregiver Functions

Performs personal care activities that assist the patient with activities of daily living:

  • Personal hygiene.
  • Ambulation/Transfers.
  • Dressing/Shaving.
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to instructions.
  • Accompanying patient on errands or medical appointments.
  • Performing light housekeeping activities.

Performs patient‑specific activities taught by a Right at Home senior caregiver and/or office staff, including but not limited to:

  • Providing hospice supportive care.
  • Medication reminders.
  • Assisting with prescribed range‑of‑motion exercises.
  • Assisting with blood glucose monitoring.
  • Care of bed‑bound patients.
  • Incontinence care.
  • Use of lifting equipment such as gait belts and Hoyer lifts.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Hoyer lifts.
  • Personal care and companionship.
  • Range‑of‑motion exercises.
  • Foley care.
  • Light cleaning.
Compensation

$16.35 – $22.00 per hour, with weekly pay via direct deposit and opportunities for pay increases through our Personal Advancement Program.

What You'll Do and Who You Are

The training will teach you everything you need to succeed on the job. You should be honest, energetic, approachable, and able to communicate easily with people at all levels. You’ll be adept under pressure and thrive on challenges, ready to get a little dirty with personal hygiene, dressing, light housekeeping, laundry, and other household chores. You can prepare a good meal and work around a kitchen, and you’re comfortable assisting with medication reminders, range‑of‑motion exercises, and companionship activities like reading or music.

Haves (Repeat)
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Meets the requirements for employees providing direct patient care.
  • Must have the ability to pass a full employment background check.
  • Must have successfully completed a Competency Evaluation that meets State licensing law for home health agencies.
  • Current CPR certificate is recommended.
  • 6 months experience as a Home Health Aide in health care (in homes or facilities) and successful completion of a State‑approved Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide course.
