Computer Aided Design Designer

Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Civil Detailer to support a diverse portfolio of civil and infrastructure projects. This role involves preparing detailed, non-routine drawings with complex features using sketches, engineering notes, and verbal guidance under the direction of experienced engineers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and thrives in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design environment. This is a fully onsite position based in our Wallingford, CT office.

Base pay range: $28.00/hr - $30.00/hr

Location: Wallingford, CT (Onsite – no remote or hybrid)

Job Type: Contract (12 months)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week

Pay Rate: $28–$30/hour (based on experience)

• Assist in planning and preparing detailed civil drawings using standardized drafting techniques
• Develop initial design models by combining drawings, calculations, and design concepts from engineers
• Apply company, client, and project drafting standards and procedures
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to verify design requirements and resolve issues
• Support drawing production including layout, detailing, drafting, and revisions
• Collaborate with designers and drafters across multiple disciplines
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external clients
• Maintain CAD proficiency and continue developing skills in current design systems
• Perform other duties as assigned while complying with company policies and standards

• Education & Experience (one of the following):
• Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or related field plus 2 years of experience
• Associate degree plus 3 years of related experience
• High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience
• 
  
  Note:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field is not permitted for this role.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Micro Station, and Excel
• Ability to work with both 2D and 3D design applications
• Basic knowledge of civil design principles, calculations, and design systems
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals and cross-disciplinary coordination
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment
