About Us:

Welcome to Advance Plumbing & Heating Supply Company, a fourth‑generation family owned and operated business, started in 1920. The company's original location was at 2984 Grand River Ave. in Detroit, across from the Motor City Casino. On October 31st, 2016 we moved to our new location at 150 Parsons St. in Midtown Detroit. The new state‑of‑the‑art location features the City of Detroit's first ever Decorative Plumbing Showroom which opened in winter of 2018.

In 1990, with a solid reputation for excellence and an expanding market, Advance opened up a second location in Walled Lake, Michigan which features a state‑of‑the‑art 5,000‑square foot decorative plumbing showroom and an outstanding plumbing & heating parts counter.

Our Detroit Showroom has won numerous awards: two Detroit Home Design Awards (First in Commercial Retail Interior Design and third in Commercial Building Architecture), UNESCO Commerce Design Detroit Award, UNESCO Commerce Design Detroit People’s Choice Award and The Decorative Plumbing & Hardware Association showroom of the year award. Advance Plumbing as a company was also an awardee of the 50 Small Businesses in Michigan to watch in 2019.

What You’ll Do:

The Showroom Sales consultant increases sales, market share, company profitability and customer satisfaction by working with consumers in choosing plumbing fixtures and related items for kitchens, baths and recreational areas. Showroom Sales consultants provide expert product selection assistance, expediting orders from vendors and conducting customer visits as needed.

Some Duties May Include:
  • Greeting customers with a smile, positive attitude and a drive to learn customer needs
  • Educating customers on kitchen & bath products, the organizational design process and the organizational service quality experience
  • Supporting customers by walk‑ins, phone calls and making or scheduling appointments
  • Leverages a deep understanding of product knowledge of interior design and kitchen & bath products to produce sales results
  • Contributes to the professional image of the showroom by ensuring displays are clean and in working order, and pricing & product binders are up to date
  • Ensuring hospitality of customers are met by providing beverage items during their visit
  • Create specification packages while ensuring items are feasible with construction team
  • Identifies showroom customer buying habit changes and relays that information to appropriate people within the organization
Requirements What You Need to Get the Job Done:
  • Be capable of working in a fast‑paced environment, in a customer focused role, while having a high attention to detail and speed
  • Demonstrates effective listening skills as it qualifies to the customer inquiry relative to their project size, budget, design goals, etc.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients, vendors, channel partners, manufacturers, etc.
  • Be willing to study and gain product knowledge on a large catalog of items
  • Assumes responsibility for team outcomes (achievements and shortcomings)

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • 3-5 years of customer service or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in luxury product selling (home goods preferred)
  • Experience in progressive sales or design position
