Maintenance Mechanic 3 – North Bend, WA – Fire Training Academy

Position Overview:

The Maintenance Mechanic 3 is responsible for vehicle maintenance, inventory control, and asset management at the Washington State Fire Training Academy. The incumbent tracks and maintains vehicles, equipment, and assets to support training operations.

Location:

30 minutes from downtown North Bend, WA at the Washington State Fire Training Academy, 51-acre campus.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee vehicle, equipment, and asset maintenance, scheduling, preventive care, repairs, vendor coordination, and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Perform facility and training systems maintenance to keep campus systems safe and operational.
  • Manage inventory to ensure parts and associated services are available.
  • Monitor basic operation of water systems.
  • Respond to emergencies and special projects, documenting work and outcomes.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid, unrestricted Washington State driver’s license.
  • Basic carpentry skills including layout framing and concrete form work.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools and safety practices.
  • Computer skills for email, time and travel documentation, and work order closure.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly, climb ladders, and stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in all types of extreme weather.
  • Self‑motivated and able to direct and communicate with others to achieve necessary work assignments.
