Overview
Experience the natural beauty of Washington State Parks and get paid to do it! Temporary Washington State Park Aide jobs are available in the Long Beach Area at Cape Disappointment State Park. Positions may begin March, April, May, or June and generally last 3-5 months. Most positions are available on a 40-hour work week, with possible less-than-full-time options.
Park Aides work outdoors, perform physical tasks, and support a mission to maintain a fantastic Parks system for everyone. This recruitment will fill multiple non-permanent Office & Field Park Aide positions across various parks in the Long Beach area. Housing and RV parking are not available for this area.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Park Ranger, Park Aides perform a variety of tasks at a State Park, beach, or historical area. Typical duties may include:
- Register campers, collect and manage revenue; provide park information to visitors and relay pertinent information to field staff.
- Maintain Park Office through light routine maintenance and janitorial services.
- For Field Park Aides: perform grounds maintenance (mowing, pruning, raking, litter control), maintain park lawns with appropriate equipment, provide park information to visitors, perform daily garbage collection, clean restrooms, stock cleaning supplies, and perform general housekeeping including laundry and window washing.
- Drive light state vehicles to transport supplies and equipment within the park area; assist with hauling as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a minimum of 17 years old.
- Possess a valid (unrestricted) driver's license. If out-of-state (other than WA), provide proof of a valid, current unrestricted license at interview.
DESIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
- Experience running POS systems and handling money.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn and interpret park rules, area information, and local history; educate visitors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, stay organized, communicate effectively, and complete tasks with quality and on schedule.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment; perform general maintenance to park buildings and facilities; perform janitorial tasks with chemical use; perform physical labor for extended periods; work in all weather conditions; and work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
All non-permanent Park Aides are required to wear a uniform. A uniform helps establish a professional identity. Non-permanent Park Aides receive 2 shirts, 1 baseball cap, and a clothing stipend of $75 per calendar year; some positions may qualify for a $150 clothing stipend depending on position length.
