Location:

Monroe, WA.

Salary: $5,892.00 – $7,930.00 per month.

Schedule:

6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (0600‑1430), Saturday‑Wednesday (Thurs/Fri off).

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN4) for the Monroe Correctional Complex located in Monroe, Washington. Under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse 4 supports the Department’s mission to improve public safety by assisting in the implementation of the nursing process and delivering services to promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment of various health conditions.

The facility is a 26‑bed inpatient unit that provides chronic disease treatment (e.g., HEP C, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, Alzheimer’s dementia, COPD) and manages outpatient clinics that see 15‑20 patients per day. We are also the only state facility that provides in‑house dialysis care.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and collect specific data, as directed, about health status and clinical condition of individuals, families, groups, and communities by interview, observation, inspection, and examination. Report results to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in developing nursing diagnoses, outcomes, and the plan of nursing care including identification of approaches, time frames, and care pathways.
  • Carry out the plan of care by performing common therapeutic nursing interventions and determining when intervention requires clarification or a higher level of care.
  • Assist in analysis and evaluation of service delivery structure, process, and timescales, and revise the plan of care as necessary.
  • Use appropriate safety techniques for moving loads and help coordinate the delivery of health care on‑ and off‑site.
  • Delegate and assign patient‑care tasks to other Licensed Practical Nurses and assistive personnel, supervise, and evaluate task implementation.
  • Communicate effectively with offenders, families, health care personnel, custody and institutional staff, and document clinical findings and actions taken in legible, confidential records.
  • Administer medication as delegated, participate in medication lines, prepare release medication for offender transfer or release, and provide patient education regarding medications.
  • Lead clinical nurse in treatment rooms, participate in dressing changes, monitor vital signs, assist in minor surgical procedures, and evaluate and carry out orders.
  • Provide emergency medical care, including CPR, in accordance with trained scope and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in Washington State as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Or a licensed multistate compact LPN with completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey.
  • At least two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Training by the American Heart Association in Healthcare Provider CPR.
  • Proficiency with computer‑based programs for scheduling, monitoring, data entry, word processing, and email communication.
