The Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) is excited to announce the implementation of the Veterans Placement Program (VPP). This program is presented in alignment with Governor’s Executive Order 19-01 Veteran and Military Family Transition and Readiness Support.
The Department is seeking transitioning active-duty military members, Veterans, retirees, and military spouses to participate in this program. This opportunity provides a direct avenue to a civilian career at L&I, the Employer of Choice. Program At A GlanceThe Veteran Placement Program (VPP) is right for you if you want to start a new paying job right away, gain experience in a new career field, gain experience working in state government, be eligible for competitive civilian benefits, and start a temporary opportunity with potential to convert to a permanent placement.
Eligibility To QualifyTo qualify as a VPP participant, you must meet one of the following:
- Be a currently serving active-duty military member honorably transitioning from active service, within 60 days of discharge; include Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, or Marines
- Or be a currently serving Army or Air National Guard or Reserves member
- Or be an honorably discharged military member or retiree
- Or be the spouse of a currently serving military member (all branches)
As a VPP participant, you may join programs across the agency in various job classifications and locations. All positions are non-permanent with potential to roll over to permanent status. Available positions often include:
- Customer Service Specialist 2
- Office Assistant 3
- Fiscal Auditor
- Human Resource Consultant
Customer Service Specialist 2: provide direct service to customers and internal staff; assist with accounts, payments, payment agreements, and collections. Salary: $3,665 - $4,882 per month.
Office Assistant 3: provide excellent customer service, answer calls, perform clerical support; contribute to workers' benefits delivery. Salary: $3,417 - $4,542 per month.
Fiscal Auditor: review accounts and perform audits; communicate findings, provide consulting, and coordinate with internal/external staff. Salary:
Auditor 2: $4,320 - $5,812;
Auditor 3: $4,771 - $6,414 per month.
Human Resource Consultant: main contact for employees on personnel, payroll, benefits; maintain appointment and attendance records; assist with payroll-related guidance. Salary: $4,428 - $5,956 per month.
Note:
Positions are non-permanent; some roles may become permanent in the future depending on business needs.
