Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the part‑time, seasonal role of Kids College Instructor on the Walla Walla Campus.

General Responsibilities

The Kids College Instructor delivers engaging, hands‑on STEM and technical learning experiences for students age 9-13 during seasonal Kids College sessions at Walla Walla Community College. Courses emphasize curiosity, creativity, and real-world career connections through age‑appropriate, experiential learning.

Instructors support the College's mission by fostering a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment and by collaborating with co‑instructors, classroom assistants, program staff, WWCC Workforce and Nursing/Allied Health faculty, and community or industry partners. Instructional depth is appropriate for middle school learners, and instructors demonstrate enthusiasm, curiosity, and the ability to translate STEM and technical concepts for students ages 9-13.

Teaching And Related Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging, hands‑on instructional content aligned with Kids College Curriculum.
  • Teach daily lessons that emphasize curiosity, creativity, and experiential learning.
  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning styles and developmental levels of students ages 9-13.
  • Use interactive, applied activities to support learning objectives.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Supervise children during instructional activities and transitions.
  • Address behavioral issues using positive guidance strategies.
  • Communicate with parents, co‑instructors, classroom assistants, and program staff regarding student progress and program operations.
  • Collaborate with instructional teams to coordinate lesson plans and classroom activities.
  • Prepare instructional spaces, materials, and equipment; support setup and cleanup.
  • Participate in required orientation, training, and program meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with college safety, accessibility, and program policies.
Competencies

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in the area of instruction.
  • Prior teaching experience with children ages 9-13.
  • Experience teaching STEM, technical, or applied learning topics.
  • Knowledge of child development principles.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate instruction.
