Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for an Instructional Support Technician 2 for Science and Enology/Viticulture at the Walla Walla campus.

General ResponsibilitiesThis position provides integrated instructional and laboratory support across the science department and the Enology & Viticulture (EV) program at Walla Walla Community College. The incumbent supports hands‑on laboratory instruction, prepares and maintains instructional environments, assists faculty and students during lab activities, and ensures safe operation, maintenance, and compliance within various laboratories, winery, vineyard, and classroom settings.
This combined role ensures continuity of laboratory instruction, efficient preparation and breakdown of instructional activities, and consistent support for student learning across disciplines. This position will be a 50/50 split between the science department and EV program.
Essential Functions Duty:Science Laboratory Support (17 hours/week)
- Prepare chemistry reagents and solutions using precision balances and laboratory glassware.
- Maintain chemical inventory and proper storage of reagents.
- Manage reagent waste streams in accordance with EH&S, OSHA, and state/federal regulations.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory and prep room environments.
- Wash and maintain laboratory glassware and equipment.
- Assist instructors during science lab sessions and support student learning.
- Monitor laboratory environments for safety concerns and communicate issues to supervisors.
- Support preventative maintenance and minor troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
Instructional & Laboratory Support - Enology & Viticulture (17 hours/week)
- Assist instructors in classroom, winery, vineyard, and laboratory teaching environments.
- Support hands‑on student learning during laboratory exercises and demonstrations.
- Assist with grape receiving, preparation, and instructional processing activities.
- Ensure winery, cellar, and laboratory spaces are prepared, clean, and compliant for instruction.
- Assist students with laboratory analysis and completion of assigned coursework.
- Monitor student work environments for hazards and enforce safety protocols.
- Operate winery and vineyard equipment and assist in training students on safe operation.
- Perform routine maintenance on winery, vineyard, and laboratory equipment.
Preparation, Inventory, and Lab Session Turnover (6 hours/week – 3 hours sciences; 3 hours EV)
- Prepare and break down laboratory and classroom sessions for the science department and EV program.
- Manage instructional inventory and place orders to replenish consumables and supplies.
- Coordinate equipment setup appropriate to each lab session.
- Clean and reset instructional spaces in preparation for subsequent classes.
- Communicate scheduling, supply, and equipment needs with supervisors and faculty.
- Demonstrated ability to safely prepare, handle, store, and dispose of laboratory chemicals and instructional materials in compliance with EH&S, OSHA, and applicable state and federal regulations.
