Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN), PRN

Responsibilities
  • Circulator role: perform scrub duties as necessary; maintain counts of sponges, needles and instruments; open sterile packs and supplies; assist surgeons, anesthesiologists and other personnel as needed; monitor patient condition and document observations; ensure medications are administered and charted according to policies; assist in patient transport to PACU and report to post-op nurse.
  • Position patients, prepare operative area, and adjust table to proper position according to standard policies; ensure supplies and equipment are ready for use; uphold aseptic technique; manage equipment and provide to team as needed.
  • Observe patient for changes in condition; review surgeon’s preference cards and verify medications with the surgeon; assist in specimen handling and cultures as directed; participate in maintaining a clean and safe operating room environment.
  • Contribute to infection control and asepsis; assist in traffic control and personnel coordination to maintain a safe workplace.
Hours
  • PRN
  • Center is open Monday–Friday 6:30am–5:00pm. Shifts will fall within those hours; some early/late adjustments may be required.
  • No late nights, weekends or on-call shifts
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Current RN License required
  • Previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings preferred:
    Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry
Position Summary

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with Federal, State and accreditation standards and company policies. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under supervision. Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.

  • Critical Thinking: Supervise and direct patient care in an operating room; ensure proper techniques and practices; supervise other personnel; report unusual occurrences and document in the patient record; coordinate and prioritize patient care.
  • Interpersonal: Maintain a positive, professional manner; effective communication with patients, families, physicians and staff; work well in a team; uphold HIPAA and patient rights.
  • Job Knowledge/Responsibilities: Act ethically and legally within license scope; maintain accurate medical records; manage schedules; respond to emergent situations; participate in continuing education and staff meetings; work independently and with a team; follow physician orders and contribute to a healthy work environment; assist in training new staff.

    Skills:

    familiarity with Amkai Office, Amkai Charts Database, Microsoft Word; basic printer/copier/telephone/fax use; knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.
  • Physical Demands: ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional pushing up to 200 pounds; assist with patient transfers up to 400–500 pounds with assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel and climb.
  • Working Conditions: work in well-lit, ventilated areas including operating rooms, nurse stations and procedure rooms.
Education/Experience/Certificates/Licenses
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Current RN License;
    Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) preferred;
    Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
