Position: Phlebotomist 0513 at ChemSource Waldorf, MD

Summary

Phlebotomist 0513 job dorf, MD. This is a contract to hire job opportunity with potential for permanent employment.

Location:

Waldorf, MD.

Schedule:

8am-6pm Monday-Friday. Projected duration: 3 months plus potential for permanent. Job code: CVDJP. Benefits are available. Waldorf MD is home base; will float LaPlata to Capital Heights MD in PG county within a 50-mile radius. Mileage expenses reimbursed.

Responsibilities
  • Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly explains the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrates technique(s) using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understands all physician orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport. Store specimens according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow procedures necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0-2 years of experience.
