Rate: £40 per hour

Duration: 3 months (covering sickness)

Wakefield's Safeguarding and Review Unit is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join their experienced team as a Child Protection Chair.

• Chair Child Protection Conferences (initial and review)
• Supervision order reviews and meetings
• Conduct suitability checks for foster carers
• Participate in duty rota system
• Typically run 2 conferences per day (may have up to 4 in morning and 4 in afternoon)

• Mainly office-based (conferences are face-to-face)
• Office hours from 9am
• Write‑up work can be done from home when no conferences scheduled
• Some conferences off‑site (car driver ideally required)
• Based at 5 Towns, Castleford – excellent transport links opposite train station

The Safeguarding and Review Unit is an experienced and knowledgeable team that chairs Child Protection Conferences, Child in Care Reviews, LADO and Foster Carer Reviews. The service works closely with internal and external partners to achieve positive outcomes forGNUSH the team is developing a culture of restorative practice and offers an opportunity to influence social work practice through supportive links with teams and collaborative quality assurance work.

• Qualified Social Worker
• Child Protection Conference chairing experience preferred
• Will consider candidates with experience wanting to develop chairing skills and move up
• Ability to work independently and as patents as a team
Additional Information
• No on ordinal parking (railway station car park £3.50 for full day)
• Part‑time considered (4 days per week)
Essential Requirements
• Social Work Qualification – Degree or equivalent
• At least 3 years’ experience as a Social Worker within children’s services
• Social Work England registration
• Full driving licence and access to own vehicle
