About the role :

Join our Wakefield depot and play a pivotal role in driving smooth daily operations alongside our supportive Operations Manager. You’ll lead the Twilight Shift, inspiring a team of 70+ employees to exceed ambitious KPIs through hands-on leadership, coaching, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

You’ll champion key initiatives—from operational compliance to refining standard procedures—while expertly juggling multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines and deliver outstanding customer service. When the pace intensifies, you’ll lead by example, working side-by-side with your team to achieve exceptional results.

Location : Unit A, Telford Way, Wakefield 41 Industrial Estate, Wakefield, WF2 0XW

Shift Pattern : Monday - Thursday

Hours : Monday - Wednesday 12:00pm - 00:00am / Thursday 12:00pm - 22:00pm

Salary : £32,000 - £35,000 dependant on experience

What you’ll be doing :

  • Lead, inspire, and motivate your team to consistently meet and exceed customer deadlines while driving continuous improvements in productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Uphold and enforce the highest quality standards, ensuring every task meets our commitment to excellence.
  • Set clear, ambitious productivity targets and work collaboratively with your team to achieve and surpass these goals.
  • Deliver detailed, insightful handover reports to the Operations Manager, ensuring seamless communication and operational continuity across shifts.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs that empower all staff to perform their roles effectively, efficiently, and safely, fostering a skilled and confident workforce.
  • Ensure every team member completes mandatory Health & Safety training, maintaining a culture of safety and compliance throughout the warehouse.
  • Oversee the full spectrum of warehouse operations—from inbound goods receipt to outbound dispatch—ensuring all processes run smoothly, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment, promoting workplace safety and operational excellence at every level.

What we need from you :

  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in a fast-paced Distribution or Logistics environment, demonstrating a strong understanding of operational dynamics.
  • Proven success in effective people management, with a track record of motivating teams to achieve outstanding results.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving and surpassing growing operational KPIs, consistently delivering measurable improvements.
  • A calm, focused approach to prioritizing daily tasks, thriving under pressure while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills grounded in practical, common-sense decision-making.
  • Proficient computer skills, comfortable navigating essential software and systems.
  • Able to confidently meet strict deadlines, paired with excellent communication skills to engage and inspire teams.
