Job Summary
Core Team West seeks a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or psychotherapist, to work 22.5 hours a week (0.6 WTE) at Band 7. The role delivers evidence‑based treatment and psychological assessment, and includes duty‑worker responsibilities. Candidates trained in integrative approaches, CBT, EMDR, or DBT are particularly welcome.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist psychological skills within a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- Deliver evidence‑based assessments and interventions.
- Administer the duty‑worker role and maintain autonomy under professional guidelines.
- Offer supervision, training and clinical support to Assistants, Doctoral trainees and other clinicians.
- Collaborate with professionals across agencies, and manage, review and discharge care plans.
- Undertake research, audit and service‑development activities.
- Attend team meetings, receive formal supervision, appraisal and training opportunities.
- Deliver consultation, supervision and training for external agencies.
- Carry out assessment, formulation and intervention for moderate to severe mental health problems.
- Apply expert clinical judgement based on evidence‑based practice.
- Maintain and update knowledge of adult/child protection legislation.
- Develop and consolidate clinical skills through continuous training and supervision.
- Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.
Essential
- Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (or equivalent psychotherapist).
- BSc Hons. in Psychology.
- Doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology.
- Appropriate safeguarding training.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Registration with the relevant professional/accrediting body (e.g. UKCP, ACAP, BABCP).

- 2:1 degree minimum.
- Eligibility for chartered status.
Essential
- Completion of supervised clinical practice in the NHS.
- Ability to operate within two models of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
- Experience with psychotherapeutic practice.

- Experience working with a range of theoretical approaches.
- Experience collaborating with other disciplines and working with people who have disabilities.
