Position: MYDoc - Foundation Plus FY2 equiv Med Specialities

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce these innovative and exciting posts, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30. These roles are designed primarily for doctors who have successfully completed their FY2 placements and are looking to gain further experience. You'll be covering general medical wards, and we see these roles as an ideal stepping stone between FY2 and Specialty training, offering opportunities to develop skills in areas like medical education, quality/service improvement, and medical leadership.

These positions combine service delivery and educational input within the stroke and acute medicine services, as well as other specialties within the Division of Medicine. While these are not recognised UK training posts, successful applicants will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking a wide range of CV‑enhancing activities, in addition to participating in scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialties.

The Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy early should a significant number of applications be received. Applicants are therefore encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job

Duties will be based primarily on our General Medicine wards on the Pinderfields site. These roles will enable the post holder to take supervised responsibility for patient care and consolidate the skills they have learned at medical school. As the post holder gains experience, they will remain under clinical supervision but take on increasing responsibility for patient care. In particular they will begin to make management decisions as part of their progress to independent practice.

During their tenure the post holder will further develop their core generic skills and contribute more to the education and training of the wider healthcare workforce. At the end of their tenure the post holder will have begun to demonstrate clinical effectiveness, leadership and the decision‑making responsibilities that are essential for the next stage of their careers. Successful applicants will initially be given lead roles in identified projects in one or more of the areas identified below reflecting their key interests and objectives for the year.

In addition, they will be encouraged and supported in creating new initiatives/projects which address challenges and opportunities facing the Trust. Please see the attached full job description for an example weekly timetable.
