Job Title: Clinical Specialist - Radiology and Diagnostics

Function: Commercial

Location: Wakefield/Daresbury/Hybrid

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: £54,884 with potential to rise to £64,570 over 3 years

We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the newly formed clinical team in our diagnostics category.

You will be responsible for ensuring the clinical and patient voice is heard in the national procurement setting, writing model service and product specifications, providing specialist clinical knowledge to inform procurement strategies, and supporting NHS Trusts to ensure they are getting the best value for money with product and service. Assessing and supporting innovation, sharing, and driving best practice. You will assure the clinical quality and safety of products and activity within a Category and act as a specialist clinician or industry product specialist with significant relevant experience in the specific category.

Key responsibilities include stakeholder management through a clinical engagement process, working across clinical and non‑clinical stakeholder functions, regular presentations to specialist clinician teams, and managing suppliers as part of portfolio activity.

  • Use data from a wide range of sources to analyse key themes and identify possible impacts on the business. Provide commercial understanding of frameworks and market to translate data and modelling into clinical practice. Conduct complex analytics to review current versus future clinical practice needs while ensuring compliance with national initiatives and programs.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in technology, policy, regulation, or operational management. Maintain external accreditations and an in‑depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, conferences, and specialist media.
  • Communicate the local action plan; explain its relation to the function’s strategy, action plan, and the broader organisation’s mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
  • Ensure the organisation is not exposed to undue risks by using risk‑management systems to achieve specific goals within a designated area. Identify risks associated with products and changes in product portfolios to maintain quality for end users and patients, avoiding unintended consequences following procurement activity or supplier changes.
  • Deliver defined features designated part of the development/engineering program, selecting the best available approach. Oversee product categories including Class IIb and Class III medical devices, equipment, care‑pathway services, solutions, and associated consumables. Lead and write technical specifications for tender/procurement processes, develop product taxonomy, and support supply chain resilience for National Framework Agreement solutions.
