Clinical Support Worker at Cheswold Park Hospital – 37.5 hours per week, permanent, full-time. Vacancies across all inpatient ward areas, Adult mental health services only. Assessment centre: 31 Jan 2026. Work locations:
Field Head Hospital, Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield (WF1 3SP
).
The post holder will support recovery, promote independence, and facilitate achievement of goals while working alongside the nursing team and multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include providing therapeutic support and practical assistance, ensuring privacy, safeguarding, and confidentiality. Use of physical and psychological care, observation, and reporting to registered nurses. Participate in flexible rostering, 24‑hour care if required.
Key Responsibilities- Establish supportive and respectful relationships with service users.
- Act as a positive role model showing professional and caring attitudes.
- Maintain accurate records of client care and inform senior clinicians of any changes.
- Contribute to the evaluation of care plans by reporting observations and interventions.
- Provide written records for individualised care and liaison with family.
- Adhere to NHS confidentiality guidelines.
- Promote a positive image of the Trust.
- Assist in verbal/physical aggression using de‑escalation, restraint or seclusion as appropriate.
- Support personal care duties (bathing, toileting, dressing, meals).
- Perform delegated clinical tasks such as taking blood pressure, glucose monitoring, pregnancy testing, removing catheter, etc.
- Work as part of a flexible recruiting arrangement providing 24‑hour/7‑day care.
- GCSE A–D or grade 3–9 in English and Maths, or equivalent.
- Level 2 qualification or working toward Level 3.
- Care Certificate (or to achieve within 12 weeks of commencement).
- Personal care and related procedures for individuals with health/social needs.
- Working in a caring environment at a band 2 or equivalent level of competence.
- Enthusiastic, able to work flexibly on a 24‑hour shift pattern.
- Diversity and cultural understanding.
- Knowledge of confidentiality and Trust responsibilities.
- Excellent knowledge of service‑user safety, prevention & management of violence & aggression, moving and handling.
- Satisfactory sickness record over previous 2 years.

Visa sponsorship may be considered under the Health and Care Worker visa route if the prorated salary meets the minimum threshold (£25,000) and other conditions are met. Two years of recognisable service experience required for Band 3 roles.
