Job Description SummaryMechanical Engineer – Job Description
Position OverviewA Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and improving mechanical systems, machines, and components. They work across industries such as manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, energy, robotics, HVAC, and more. The role involves applying principles of mechanics, materials science, thermodynamics, and engineering analysis to solve technical problems and ensure product performance, safety, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities Design & Development- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo).
- Create and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Develop prototypes and conduct design validation and optimization.
- Perform engineering analysis including stress, thermal, vibration, and fluid flow simulations (FEA/CFD).
- Evaluate design feasibility, performance, and safety in compliance with standards and regulations.
- Conduct root-cause investigations and implement design improvements.
- Develop test procedures and oversee mechanical system testing.
- Analyze test data, prepare technical reports, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Manage engineering projects from concept to production, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including electrical, manufacturing, and procurement engineers.
- Prepare documentation, technical reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Oversee fabrication, assembly, and installation of mechanical equipment.
- Provide technical support to production teams and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Implement cost-saving measures, process improvements, and lean manufacturing practices.
Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Solid Works, Creo, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of FEA/CFD tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL).
- Strong understanding of engineering principles (mechanics, thermodynamics, materials).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, casting, welding, 3D printing).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Project management and organizational skills.
- Creativity and attention to detail.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or pursuing licensure.
- Experience in industry-specific standards (ASME, ISO, ASTM).
- Experience with automation, robotics, or embedded systems.
