Kettlethorpe High School – a large, vibrant, and inclusive maintained secondary school with a strong reputation for nurturing ambition and delivering a high-quality education – is seeking an experienced Deputy Headteacher with a proven track record of driving academic excellence and improving outcomes for all learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading whole-school strategies to raise academic standards and close attainment gaps.
  • Using data insightfully to monitor progress, identify trends, and implement targeted interventions.
  • Working closely with curriculum leaders and pastoral teams to ensure every student achieves their full potential.
  • Championing high expectations and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction of the school as a key member of the SLT.
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people within the school by assisting the Headteacher in ensuring that policies and procedures are fully implemented and followed by all staff.
  • Deputising in the absence of the Headteacher for planned periods, at short notice and potentially over a longer term.
  • Driving improvements in assessment, feedback, and curriculum planning.
  • Introducing and developing strategies to promote outstanding teaching and learning across the school that further develop pupils’ involvement in their own learning and continue to raise standards.
Skills and Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status with a good honours degree.
  • A current Deputy Headteacher or highly experienced senior leader with a strong impact record.
  • Leadership experience in one or more curriculum areas, successfully designing a coherent and well-sequenced curriculum and delivering CPD to enable staff to develop expertise in the subject.
  • Substantial experience within the secondary phase and providing for educational needs across the full ability range.
  • Deep understanding of school improvement, curriculum development, and data analysis.
  • Inspirational leadership style with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and equity for all learners.
  • Passion for making a difference in a diverse school community.
  • A good sense of humour and the ability to lead with warmth, positivity, and perspective.
Salary

L20–L24, £79,475 – £86,783 (starting salary negotiable, dependent on experience).
