Overview

The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) is seeking highly motivated, clinically able trainees who wish to take a 12‑month break from their FY2 training to gain experience in clinical teaching, medical education and simulation. The post is designed for successful FY2 graduates with prior undergraduate teaching experience. The role will develop a specialty interest in medical education and involve teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students across a range of specialties.

Responsibilities
  • IMPRES5: 8‑week progressive teaching programme for Y5 medical students, including case based learning, diagnostic teaching and simulation
  • Y4 specialty teaching: clinical teaching and simulation sessions for Y4 students on acute & critical care, gynaecology, obstetrics & sexual health, and paediatrics placements
  • Y3 teaching: tutorials, simulation and bedside teaching across a range of specialties
  • Y2 teaching: skills, simulation and bedside teaching
  • Practice OSCEs
  • Post‑finals assistantship programmes
  • Cardiac arrest simulation
  • Virtual learning programmes
  • Digital content for the MYTT MESH Platform
  • Pastoral support and mentorship
  • Providing student feedback
  • Multi‑disciplinary team working
  • Supporting clinical areas within area of professional interest and clinical locum work
  • STR1DE: FY1 teaching programme including core curriculum teaching cases, simulation, prescribing, leadership and development of teaching skills
  • STR2DE: FY2 teaching programme combining clinical knowledge and educational content with post‑FY2 career planning

Clinical fellows will also have the opportunity to lead on educational activities that align with their interests and will be supported to create new initiatives where possible.

Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Medical degree from a recognised medical school
  • Successful FY2 ARCP outcome or equivalent
  • IT experience (Microsoft Office packages)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Minimum of 2 years NHS hospital experience
  • Recent NHS practice to ensure skills and knowledge remain current
  • Evidence of an enthusiastic interest in medical education
  • Evidence of delivering teaching
  • Demonstrated intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Good communication skills
