Overview

Wakefield, MA (In-Person)

$85,000–$125,000 + performance bonus + referral fee program

Law Office of John J. Sheehan, LLC is a paperless plaintiff-side firm focused on Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation and motor vehicle personal injury (pre-litigation), with a strong presence in the Latino community. We’re hiring an Associate Attorney who can manage a caseload, communicate confidently with clients, and move files efficiently toward resolution.

In-Person at our Wakefield, MA office during onboarding. Hybrid (3 days in-person/2 days remote) may be available after 60-90 days based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of MA Workers’ Comp and MVA PI pre-litigation matters from intake through settlement (and handoff to litigation when needed)
  • Client communication: updates, counseling, expectation-setting, and responsiveness
  • Evaluate liability/damages, request/track records, analyze medicals, and build demand packages
  • Negotiate with adjusters; identify case value and settlement strategy
  • Draft routine documents and correspondence; maintain strong file notes and task follow-up
  • Appear as needed for DIA Virtual Conciliations, Conferences and Lump Sum Settlement Conferences (and occasional court appearances)
  • Collaborate with and supervise support staff on file work and deadlines
Requirements (must-have)
  • Admitted to the Massachusetts Bar (active, in good standing)
  • Able to work independently and manage deadlines/caseload
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Comfortable in a paperless environment
    : scanning, PDF assembly/editing, e-sign workflows, and detailed CRM notes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
  • 1–3 years in MA Workers’ Comp and/or MA MVA PI (will consider experience as law clerk, paralegal/legal assistant or insurance claims adjuster)
Preferred (nice-to-have)
  • Spanish fluency (not required, but a big plus)
  • $85,000–$125,000 depending on experience
