Tax Supervisor
A growing CPA firm in Wakefield, MA is hiring a Tax Supervisor to lead client engagements and guide team members in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. This role offers a competitive salary of up to $120,000 plus bonus and is ideal for tax professionals with 5+ years of public accounting experience and a strong foundation in tax compliance and planning. Candidates should be motivated to take on leadership responsibilities, manage client relationships, and contribute to the development of the firm’s tax practice.
With a supportive leadership team and access to specialty departments, the firm fosters long-term career growth. Clients include large public companies and privately held businesses across various industries.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise tax engagements in compliance with firm and professional standards
- Plan and schedule engagements in coordination with clients and internal teams
- Review complex tax returns and associated work papers for accuracy and completeness
- Provide training, supervision, and mentoring to junior staff and associates
- Conduct technical tax research and communicate findings internally and with clients
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities for value-added services
- Stay current on tax regulations relevant to your areas of specialization
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax
- Demonstrated success managing tax engagements and leading teams
- Experience reviewing complex business and individual tax returns
- Supervisory experience with multi-client engagements
- Prior experience working with clients in diverse industries (e.g., closely held businesses, corporations)
- Proficiency in reviewing tax returns and managing tax workflows
- Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
- Detail-oriented with proven project management ability
- CPA license or active CPA candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (BSBA)
- Experience with Quick Books, Microsoft Excel, Pro System fx Tax, and CCH Axcess Tax
- Familiarity with tax issues relevant to industry specialization
- Strong research and analytical skills related to tax planning and compliance
