Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for leading the electrical hardware design for next-generation medical devices. This role focuses on schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, prototype development, and technical support across the product lifecycle under the guidance of the R&D Chief Engineer. The EE II partners closely with firmware, QA, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure designs are reliable, manufacturable, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Occasional travel (domestic and international) may be required, up to 25%.

Duties & Responsibilities:

These duties, responsibilities and related tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead schematic design, PCB layout, and BOM component selection and creation for new products using Altium Designer
  • Support prototype builds, bring‑up, debugging, and design iterations
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and system-level architecture discussions
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers on embedded hardware bring‑up and debugging
  • Assist with validation and verification activities by defining requirements and reviewing test outputs
  • Support prototype builds from concept through production release in alignment with QA processes and ISO 13485 design controls, maintaining full traceability through V&V and design transfer
Related Tasks:
  • Support QA and Product Failure Analysis activities by providing electrical and system-level insight
  • Support sustaining engineering activities as needed, including troubleshooting production issues and implementing design updates
  • Provide technical guidance and hands‑on support to the EE1 and EE Test Engineer during sustaining, validation, and field return investigation activities for root-cause analysis
  • 3–5 years of electrical engineering experience in product development, including at least two full hardware design cycles from concept through production
  • Required experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Experience with C/C++ for embedded systems and familiarity with UART, I²C, and SPI for board bring‑up and debugging
  • Hands‑on experience with prototype bring‑up and board‑level debugging
Ideal Technical Knowledge/Technologies Used/Achievements:
  • Preferred experience in medical device development or other regulated industries, with demonstrated exposure to an ISO 13485–compliant quality management system
  • Advanced proficiency in Altium Designer (schematics, PCB layout, libraries)
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design
  • Experience supporting embedded systems and basic C/C++ firmware understanding
  • Experience building and debugging prototypes and working with test equipment
Beneficial Technical Knowledge/Technologies Used/Achievements:
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601, ISO 14971, and design control processes
  • Experience with DFM/DFA and working with overseas manufacturers
  • Exposure to verification, validation, and design transfer activities
Education:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
