JOB TITLE: Student Success Assistant (Part-Time, 20 hrs/wk)
DEPARTMENT: Prison Programs DIVISION: Judson College SUPERVISOR: NCEC Site Coordinator SECONDARY: Director of Prison Programs

PAY: $15/hr

Purpose of the Job

PURPOSE OF THE JOB (What are the end results or objectives of this position? Why does the job exist?)

  • This job exists to: (1) provide support for student success at the NCEC (Nash County Extension Center), and (2) assist the Prison Programs office with other operations and events as needed or at the discretion of the Director of Prison Programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support Services. Work directly with the NCEC Site Coordinator for all support services and logistics related to overall student success at the NCEC site, including (but not limited to) assisting the Site Coordinator with the following duties:
    • Coordinate, deliver, and track inventory of educational resources for students and classrooms at the extension site, such as school and classroom supplies, textbooks, library resources, etc.
    • In-person, on-site support at the prison extension center for two days per week (on average).
    • Monitor general Moodle student correspondence and forms.
    • Track Student Success Plan deadlines and progression.
    • Track and monitor tutoring and disability services in collaboration with the NCEC Graduate Assistants (may be called upon to tutor on occasion).
    • Maintain student records.
    • In-person, on-site support for New Student Orientations (Acclimation Period).
    • End-of-term academic and financial aid reporting to SEBTS, NCDAC, and SACSCOC.
    • In partnership with the Financial Aid office, assist with annual student financial aid form distribution, collection, data entry, and tracking.
    • Professor transportation from SEBTS to and from the extension site (as needed).
    • Communicate with appropriate NCI facility staff (as needed).
  • Events. Provide logistical and on-site support for all NCEC related events, including (but not limited to) Convocation, Graduation, Field Minister Retreats, Break events (Christmas, end of semesters, Fall/Spring Break, etc.)
  • Chapel. Coordinate and maintain all logistical details for scheduled chapel services at NCEC; provide in-person, on-site chapel assistance (as needed).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prison Programs Operations & Events
    . In addition to the primary functions of the role, the Director of Prison Programs may appoint other duties and responsibilities as needed, such as (but not limited to):
    • Assisting with execution of (and attending) office-wide functions and events, such as New Faculty Orientations, PREA training, Partnership events and initiatives, Volunteer training, Recruiting, and others alike.
    • Other Prison Programs office needs, projects, and initiatives as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • None.

Knowledge and Skills
  • College degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) required; proficiency in Moodle/Campus Net strongly desired.
  • Clear and appropriate written and verbal communication with various types of audiences.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • Assist NCEC Site Coordinator with tracking site-related expenditures; may include expense reporting.

EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT
  • Moderate to extensive external contact with NCDAC and Nash Correctional Institution staff.
  • Extensive external contact with SEBTS faculty.
  • Moderate to extensive internal contact with SEBTS faculty and the following offices:
    Financial Aid, IT, Media Services, Writing Center, Institutional Effectiveness and Library Services.
  • Intermittent external contact with North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • General health as required for demands of the job.
  • Must be able to carry and deliver resources (including books, supplies, etc.) to NCI
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Must have reliable, personal transportation and be willing to travel to NCEC on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to interact in a close, professional and temperate manner with an incarcerated population.
STAFF EXPECTATIONS
  • Must affirm Southeastern’s statements of faith and embody institutional core values.
  • Except when off-campus at a Prison Programs-related facility, duty or event, staff members are normally expected to: (1) meet their assigned hours per week during institutional operating hours, and (2) prioritize those hours as in-office to promote a team-oriented environment.
  • All local Prison Programs staff are expected to be present for and assist with the details, logistics and execution for all programmatic events and initiatives.
