Gas Driver - Wailuku

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the transportation of materials in a safe and timely manner by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and local roads. The professional driver will be responsible for driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads against shipping papers, maintaining records of duty status according to State and Federal Regulations, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Must present a professional business image to the public and fellow employees.

Must possess a valid commercial Class B Driver's License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card; packaged gas straight truck driver; including pumper, micro-bulk. Class B Driver's License & Tanker Endorsements are preferred. This position reports to the Site Manager or Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Transport cylinders to internal and external customers safely and timely.
- Comply with all posted speed limits and DOT and company safety policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Keep vehicle clean and in proper condition.
- Complete driver logs/trip reports daily.
- Record cylinders/hard-goods transactions accurately.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and management.
- Operate forklift for loading/unloading as required.
- Follow safety policies and report incidents or unsafe conditions.
- Use time management tools to meet work commitments and deadlines.
- Participate in the safety committee as assigned.
- Fill Cryogenic Liquid Dewars.
- Provide first-line technical support.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Valid Class B Driver's License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card required;
Tanker endorsement preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commercial driving experience or graduation from an accredited driving school.
- Preferably one year of road experience with no violations in the past three years.
- At least 21 years old with an excellent driving record.
- Ability to lift and push heavy cylinders and containers.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Ability to handle administrative tasks and solve problems.
- Flexible work hours.
- Physical ability to perform tasks in various weather conditions and environments.
- Experience in the cylinder gas or chemical industry is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequently stationary, moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, ascending, descending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, communicating, and performing repetitive motions.
- Capable of working in diverse weather and conditions.
