Overall Purpose of the Position:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the provider and/or nursing staff with all aspects of patient care.

Job Responsibilities:
- Process patients for examination by obtaining vital signs and history; document the encounter in the EMR; assist with procedures and treatments as needed.
- Give injections, administer oral medications, and perform limited treatments under provider supervision.
- Prepare information for patient appointments (labs, hospital reports, referrals, notes); complete office forms and documents.
- Maintain the electronic medical record (EMR); scan documents as required.
- Keep all treatment areas and nurse’s stations neat and clean; order supplies and keep the office stocked; clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
- Answer incoming phone calls and transfer as needed; take prescription messages; schedule appointment requests; assist with follow appointments or referrals.
- Provide a positive patient and family experience; problem solve; maintain confidentiality; interact respectfully with patients, coworkers, and management.
- Perform any other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate quality work; complete assignments on time; make decisions within authority limits; adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain time and attendance standards consistent with company policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required;
Graduation from a nine‑month Medical Assistant course required; CPR/BLS Card required.
Skills/Knowledge: Manage multiple tasks simultaneously; possess strong telephone skills.
Desired/
Preferred Qualifications:
Effective communication and telephone skills; computer literacy preferred.
Equipment Use: Personal computer, multi‑line telephone, fax machine/copier, Medical equipment – i.e. BP cuff, pulse oximetry, EKG machine, glucometer, wheelchair.
Characteristics: Physically fit to perform the duties;
Willingly participate as a member of the nursing team; possess effective organizational skills and maintain a “can‑do” attitude.
Walking (85%); sitting (15%); lifts 25 lbs. with occasional heavier loads.
Hourly Rate: MA starting @ $23.72 / CA starting @ $19.58; based on experience.
