Grow your skills while shaping critical infrastructure. Join the City as a Civil Engineer! The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Storm Water Quality Division, is recruiting for three (3) Civil Engineer III positions at Kapolei Hale.

What You Will Do
  • Assist with professional engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program.
  • Plan, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping.
  • May participate in periodic cross training and supplementary work activities within the division to comply with regulatory obligations.

Salaries for the positions at the Department of Facility Maintenance are commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval: $6,528 to $7,317 per month

Department of Environmental Services (ENV)

Recruiting for two (2) Civil Engineer III positions located in Honolulu.

  • There is one (1) vacancy in the Environmental Quality Division.
  • There is one (1) vacancy in the Refuse Collection & Disposal Division.
What You Will Do
  • Perform routine to moderately complex professional engineering work under general supervision.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all technical and administrative activities of simple projects assigned.
  • Assist higher level engineers on more complex projects and tasks.

Salaries for the position at the Department of Environmental Services are commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval: $6,528 to $7,317 per month for the positions in the Environmental Quality Division and Refuse Collection & Disposal Division.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non‑citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally‑accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Applicable Skills Needed Knowledge Of
  • civil engineering principles and practices
  • Engineering mathematics and mechanics of materials
  • Topographic surveying principles and practices
  • Structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary engineering concepts as they apply to civil engineering
Ability To
  • perform civil engineering design work and supervise construction and inspection activities
  • analyze stresses and determine the required foundations and structural features
  • supervise a small group of subordinate employees
  • prepare engineering and inspection reports
