Job Summary

The adjunct lecturer in Construction Management will be responsible for teaching graduate-level courses in various aspects of construction management. This position involves developing and delivering engaging lectures, creating course materials, assessing student learning outcomes, and providing constructive feedback to enhance student understanding and performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive industry experience in construction management along with a strong academic background, enabling them to effectively convey theoretical concepts and practical applications to graduate students.

Additionally, the adjunct lecturer will contribute to curriculum development, participate in departmental meetings, and engage in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends and educational best practices. This role requires excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.

Compensation

$1,150 per credit hour - Doctorate
$1,050 per credit hour - Master's

This is a part-time exempt position, open to both in-person and remote applicants.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or construction industry related degree with extensive experience.
  • Able to teach classes scheduled during evenings and weekends.
  • Master's degree in construction management or Master's degree and 18 graduate hours in a construction-related field/discipline, or bachelor's degree in a construction-related field/discipline with 3 years of work-related experience in a construction-related field, or associate degree in a construction-related field/discipline, with 7 years of work experience in a construction-related field.

Desired Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or closely related discipline. 3 to 5 years of project-based, professional level U.S. construction industry experience.
  • Candidates with executive level management experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Other Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
  • Must submit tuberculosis clearance upon hire.
  • Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.
  • Teaching will normally entail developing and preparing teaching materials, mentoring student project work, grading, and/or assessing student learning outcomes. Course assignment(s) will be determined by School needs and candidate background.
