Position: Administrative Assistant II
Location: Kauai Community Correctional Center, Lihue, Kauai
Salary$4,054 to $5,133 per month (SR-14, Step C to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Duties SummaryThe Administrative Assistant II serves as a secretary to the manager of a program and organization of considerable scope and complexity. Responsibilities include secretarial services, minor administrative and clerical support for a program manager, facilitation of workflow, coordination, and management controls, and related duties as assigned. The position may involve supervising clerical work and performing highly complex clerical tasks.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsApplicants must meet the following requirements:
- Legal Authorization to Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- General Clerical
Experience:
Six months of work experience demonstrating knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and arithmetic; the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and to speak and write simply and directly. - Specialized Clerical
Experience:
Two years of progressively responsible typing and/or substantive clerical work demonstrating knowledge of common office appliances and equipment, ability to carry out clerical procedures, and ability to perform secretarial tasks as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements. - Preliminary Employment Screening: Applicants may be subject to drug screening and an intensive background check.
- Keyboarding / Computer Skill: Required skill of 40 net words per minute with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Shorthand / Dictation Skill: Required skill of 80 net words per minute with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.

- Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.

- Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
