Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and trustworthy individual with excellent customer service skills and detailed oriented individual to clean and maintain a commercial location. While previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or a related field is preferred, it is not mandatory.
Please be aware that applicants must successfully complete a background check, and certain roles require a valid Hawaii driver’s license and a dependable vehicle. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for cleaning common areas, maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or with a team are essential.

Position: Custodian
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Must be available 5:30AM – 2:00PM and 2:00PM – 10:30PM
Compensation per hour: $20.00

Key Responsibilities- Sweep, dust, mop, and disinfect tables, chairs, windowsills, glass windows, and counter tops.
- Clean common areas, including hallways, stairways, food courts, and restrooms (ensuring sinks, toilet seats and urinals are cleaned).
- Restock cleaning supplies.
- The capability to stand and work in various weather conditions.
- Multi-task and work efficiently, both independently and within a team.
- Adhere to safety procedures.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism and customer service at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and customers.
- Report safety issues or building problems (e.g., burnt light bulbs).
- Notify the appropriate HBM employee regarding supplies and equipment needed for cleaning tasks.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Successful completion of HBM prescreen is required.
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license is preferred.
- Previous experience as a custodian or in a related field is advantageous, though training will be provided.
- Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions in English.
- Strong public relations and communication skills are necessary.
- Applicants should be prepared to perform basic manual labor, maintain cleanliness in common areas, and regularly lift, press, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50-100lbs.
- Physical capabilities must include reaching overhead, grasping objects, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, climbing, stretching, walking, and standing throughout shifts.
