Registered Nurse II – Children First, Nurse‑Family Partnership

Registered Nurse II – Children First, Nurse‑Family Partnership is responsible for providing direct or indirect professional nursing services in a variety of settings. The program offers free, in‑home visits to first‑time, low‑resource mothers from early pregnancy through the child’s second birthday. Nurses complete nursing assessments utilizing the Nursing Process and provide education related to pregnancy, health, community resources, parenting, safety, child development, and other topics as needed.

Position Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and actively participate in reflective supervision, case‑conferences, and team meetings.
  • Monitor and assess the health status of first‑time mothers and infants to age two utilizing the Nurse‑Family Partnership guidelines, program guidelines, and Physician‑Approved Protocols.
  • Work with clients/families to develop long‑term and short‑term personal and family goals.
  • Develop a plan of care based on nursing assessment; provide case management and health education.
  • Deliver professional nursing care in the client’s home or other setting.
  • Complete electronic documentation in the required timeframe and format.
  • Assure quality health care through record review, peer review, direct observation, and assessment of individual, family, and community outcomes.
  • Assist with activities in support of public health emergency response.
  • Work with families following a comprehensive program plan that focuses on personal health, parenting, environmental health, preventing unintended subsequent pregnancies, and finding or returning to work and school.
  • Complete required training and ongoing education as outlined by the NFP model and Children First Program guidelines.
  • Achieve and maintain caseload as outlined by program guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Presence in the office is an essential function of this job.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies, and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, participating and assisting peers.
Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a valid Oklahoma license as a registered nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or a Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and one year of professional nursing experience, OR a Bachelor’s in Nursing and possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or a Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

Up‑to‑date CPR certification.

Valued Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and techniques; health promotion and disease prevention; nursing management of available health care resources; nutrition; and functions of various clinical departments. Ability to assist in the development, organization, and implementation of an effective nursing care plan; to assess patients, families, and communities; to take appropriate intervention; to counsel and teach clients and families; and to provide direction to non‑licensed personnel ensuring quality care.
