Position Overview:
- The Wagoner County Detention Center is looking for leaders ready to grow in a career with nearly limitless opportunities.
- Our Detention Officers make great money while helping at-risk populations better their lives while strengthening their communities.
- This is an entry-level job that provides on-site job training and development.
- Our Detention Officers contribute to the safety and well-being of their communities through the care and custody of the offenders in our secure, safe facility.
- Detention officers learn skills that translate to other types of law enforcement jobs.
- An excellent starting point for people wanting to start a law enforcement career.
- Must be at least U.S. Citizen.
- Have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Have a valid Driver's License - Insurable Driving Record.
- Must pass a background investigation and No felony convictions, also pass a drug screen.
- No Domestic Violence records.
- Good moral character.
- Available to work shifts - 24/7 operation.
- Receive and process inmates into the custody of the institution; search prisoners to take charge of personal property.
- Supervise and control inmate behavior while performing various tasks completed during the daily operation of the detention center.
- Follow and enforce all detention center rules and regulations.
- Paid time off. (vacation, sick, and personal).
- $3000 monthly starting pay (probation) up to $3780 monthly.
- Fully paid health benefits like dental, vision, life insurance, and medical.
- 20-year OPERS retirement.
As a division of the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, the Wagoner County Jail is devoted to safeguarding our community, inmates, and staff. All individuals will be treated in a safe, humane, and fair manner. Detention staff will be professional and responsive to Citizen's concerns. Our hope is that those who pass through the Wagoner County Jail will re-enter the community as more productive and responsible citizens.
