Job Description
The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking a full-time Compliance Inspector I. This is a state position governed by the Civil Service Rules, located in the Northern region of Oklahoma.
OMMA offers a comprehensive benefits packet, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. The annual salary for this position is up to $63,000 based on education and experience.

Position SummaryThe Compliance Inspector I position conducts complex inspections of commercial licensees to assess compliance with state statutes and regulations. Inspections will include but not be limited to annual, follow-up, complaints, and operational status visits. This position collaborates with the Compliance team to conduct proactive research of commercial licensee activities, data analytics, and generate reports to guide onsite inspections. It also involves working with agency counterparts to ensure high compliance rates across the state.
Compliance Inspector I must demonstrate thoroughness, attention to detail, and transparency.
- Performs inspections within the prescribed protocols and processes including follow-up inspections and surveys. Applies investigative methods and procedures, including safety concepts, rules, and codes.
- Coordinates inspection activities at all points through the process including scheduling, conducting, and tracking compliance investigations and inspections.
- Assists in the coordination, provision, and collection of reporting requirements for medical marijuana licensed entities.
- Testifies in hearings and court cases and assists legal staff in preparation of hearing and court cases.
- Identifies potential barriers and provides solutions and suggestions to the Compliance department and leadership team to improve program processes. Seeks clarification of issues and provides feedback.
- Recommends actions for licensure revocations, fines, and penalties in consultation with leadership and in collaboration with the legal department.
- Provides analysis of inspection findings, identifies potential problems, and provides appropriate and professional interactions with regulated licensees.
- Assists with reconciliation and recordkeeping for all documents such as license surrenders, complaint back-up files, case files, correspondence, etc.
- Maintains a breadth of knowledge of relevant medical marijuana regulations, as well as general knowledge regarding workplace safety.
- Solves problems, analyzes issues with critical thinking skills, and employs sound judgment.
- Attains certifications as required, including CLEAR certification.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.
- Participates in the development and evaluation of program objectives and procedures.
- Provides training and technical assistance to internal staff.

Education and ExperienceEducation and Experience requirements at this level consists of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, agricultural science, environmental science, criminal justice, public administration, public health, or closely related field, or five (5) years of professional experience conducting regulatory investigations in accordance with applicable principles and practices; or other comparable experience.
