Director of Nursing (DON) at Auburn Homes
Auburn Homes, Waconia is looking for a Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee nursing operations at our Skilled Nursing Facility located at 594 Cherry Drive, Waconia, MN 55387.
Base pay: $95,000 - $115,000 per year (dependent on experience).
Job type: Full-time, exempt, on‑call.
Auburn Homes and Services of Waconia, an Illuminus Community, has provided assisted living, memory support, short‑term rehabilitation, and long‑term skilled nursing care to older adults in Carver County since 1928. The organization is dedicated to empowering residents to live with purpose and passion.
Responsibilities- Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with all individuals.
- Maintains a positive image of the entity in the community in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
- Responsible for on‑call services, as assigned.
- Supervises functions, activities, and training of nursing personnel.
- Ensures quality of care adhering to best practices around infection prevention and control.
- Develops and maintains standards of nursing practice and policies, and provides oversight of practice.
- Ensures nursing services align with an interdisciplinary process.
- Ensures that duties of nursing personnel are clearly defined and assigned to staff consistent with their level of educational preparation, experience, and licensure.
- Attains and maintains adequate personnel and supplies in the nursing department.
- Assesses resident care needs and assists in the development of individual plans of care as needed.
- Participates in pre‑admission screening process for new residents as needed.
- Participates in committee meetings and interdepartmental meetings that align with Quality Assurance Process Improvement Standards.
- Assumes responsibility for nursing service compliance to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Participates in budget formation and operates nursing service within the budgetary guidelines.
- Follows all department safety rules.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Minnesota.
- Knowledge and/or experience in geriatrics.
- Management experience preferred.
- Knowledge and/or experience with state and federal regulations.
- Commitment to quality outcomes and services for all individuals.
- Ability to relate well to all individuals.
- Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
- Ability to adapt to change.
