Our church is experiencing a season of revitalization, actively reaching out to the diverse neighborhoods surrounding us. We are seeking a bilingual, relational, and spiritually mature Part‑Time Community Pastor to lead and disciple our Spanish‑speaking members while fostering unity within our multi‑ethnic congregation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving the Hispanic community, building bridges across cultures, and advancing the mission of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. This role requires 10–15 hours per week and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a revitalizing church community.
PersonalQualifications
- Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) - Experience:
Previous pastoral or ministry experience, especially in bilingual or multicultural settings, strongly preferred - Language Proficiency:
Fluent in Spanish and English, both spoken and written - Alignment with Church Values:
Deep alignment with PLDBC’s mission of diversity, inclusivity, and social justice as expressions of Christian faith in ministry - Personal Character:
Displays a genuine love for Christ and others, evident through an authentic, transparent, and Christ‑centered lifestyle; committed to spiritual growth and actively sharing faith with others
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual counseling for Hispanic members and the surrounding Hispanic community beyond the congregation, addressing prayer requests and offering guidance as needed
- Facilitate communication for Hispanic members by translating during events and ensuring accessibility of written materials (bulletins, announcements, social media)
- Support integration of Hispanic members into the broader church community through organizing fellowship and discipleship opportunities
- Develop and lead small groups or Bible studies in Spanish to foster discipleship
- Be a visible leader and help execute the vision of the church
- Teach effectively and creatively from Scripture during Sunday School
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and translation devices weekly for Sunday services, including troubleshooting any issues during functionality testing
- Collaborate with fellow PLDBC pastors for consistent support and coordination, fostering unity and teamwork within the congregation
- Participate in weekly meetings to plan preaching topics, provide feedback on previous sermons, and assign responsibilities for upcoming services
- Participate in discussions to identify and address congregation needs, strategizing solutions as a team
- Commit to ongoing professional and spiritual growth through conferences, seminars, reading, and networking
- Support planning and participating in community outreach events designed to spread Christ’s love to our surrounding area
- Open and close the church building every Sunday, managing thermostat settings for Sunday mornings and post‑service shutdown
- Adapt duties according to evolving congregation needs, demonstrating flexibility and commitment during challenging times (e.g., the COVID‑19 pandemic)
- Ability to build and lead teams, fostering collaboration and trust
- Strong interpersonal and relational skills for connecting across cultures
- Skilled in delegation, training, and empowering others for ministry effectiveness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
