Fitter​/Welder

Job Description

As a Fitter/Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating a wide range of miscellaneous metal projects. This includes cutting and welding metal pieces and products using flame‑cutting and hand‑welding equipment.

$22.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience (Full‑time Alamo employees are eligible for shift differential pay).

• Day Shift: Monday – Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm
• Night Shift: Monday – Thursday 3:30pm – 2:00am

• Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
• Maintain, organize, and keep work area and equipment in operating condition.
• Hand‑weld and/or flame‑cut equipment to join metal components.
• Cut and scarf using an oxy‑acetylene torch.
• Structural welding using FCAW & SMAW.
• Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
• Properly assemble and disassemble weld setups.
• Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
• Reshape metal work pieces to establish specifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of metal and basic shop fabrication equipment.
• Knowledge and proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to pass a welding test.
• Knowledge of TIG welding is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to withstand pressure and adapt to change.
• Ability to multi‑task while meeting strict deadlines.
