Position: OAG - Child Support - Field Support Manager (Manager IV) | 26-0345

The Field Support manager will report to the Division Chief of Field Support. Responsibilities will include establishing goals and objectives; developing guidelines, procedures, and policies; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals; coordinating and evaluating division activities. This position may be based in any city in Texas with an OAG Child Support Division office depending on the candidate’s preference but subject to the needs of the Child Support Division.

Regardless of primary duty point, the candidate must collaborate with relevant stakeholders throughout the state, and some travel to and from Austin and other worksites throughout the state for in-person meetings will be necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and operational activities related to the establishment, enforcement, and collection of child support.
  • Establishes goals and objectives that support overall strategies. Monitors and tracks issues, division success and statistics, and ensures compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws.
  • Develops, coordinates, monitors projects, and serves as Field Support’s representative on select procurement projects.
  • Oversees work groups and committees responsible for special projects and initiatives designed to maximize performance and improve customer service.
  • Oversees the monitoring, reporting, analysis and forecasting of child support workload and performance; ad hoc reporting, analysis for management decisions as needed, budget for the state office section and all field offices, identifies budgetary needs, and develops budgetary estimates designed to meet the requirements of each region and the division.
  • Supervises and directs staff by making employment related decisions including but not limited to hiring, implementing disciplinary actions, assigning, and reassigning job duties and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensures that hiring, training, evaluations, and personnel actions involving direct reports are consistent and timely.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis: full‑time Child Support Program, management, supervisory, or project management.
  • Experience:

    9 years of full‑time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: full‑time Child Support Program, management, supervisory, or project management.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication.
  • Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making.
  • Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in‑person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week…
